1. Have you ever decided to stop drinking for a short or longer period, without succeeding?

2. Do you wish people would mind their own business regarding your alcohol consumption?

3. Have you ever tried to get your drinking under control by switching from one type of drink to another?

4. Have you ‘repaired’ yourself in the morning over the past year?

5. Do you envy people who can drink normally and without negative consequences?

6. Has your drinking caused you any problems over the past year?

7. Has your alcohol consumption caused problems at home?

8. Do you ever try to get extra drinks at a party because you don't get enough?

9. Do you tell yourself that you can stop drinking whenever you want, even though you keep getting drunk when that wasn’t the plan?

10. In the past year, have you missed work or studies due to drinking?

11. Have you ever had “blackouts” (memory loss after drinking)?

12. Do you ever think your life would be better without alcohol?

What now?

Did you answer ‘yes’ four or more times?

If you did, it's possible you have an alcohol problem, or will do in the not-too-distant future.

How can we put this?
